Marching season is upon us! For the rookies, it can get cold during football games and some of the stadiums the band performs in. Many of the students where Under Armor under their uniforms to keep warm. One place you can purchase it is at Dick's Sporting Goods. Scrip is available for that and many other places you might find it at. Scrip cards are also good when purchasing online. Remember you earn a percentage of the money you would spend anyway!
Remember that scrip is gift cards that you purchase through the boosters. You pay face value for the card, the boosters get them at a discount – that’s how we earn money on it. You purchase only the cards for retailers you would normally purchase from – it does require a little advance planning on your part. You use gas if you drive to work, to school, the store, taking your child to band practice . . . We can get cards for Sam’s, Mobile, bp, Shell, Marathon, Speedway, Sunoco, and more (check on the Shopwithscrip.com website for a complete list). There is even Jiffy Lube and Pep Boys.

Our last order had 30 orders for 22 students! The total face value of the order was $6235 with $266.28 going to the band and $177.52 going to the students. One student earned $21.60 with this order alone! Get in on the fun! You can now find the scrip order due dates on the website calendar for the next couple of months. They will continue to be put on the calendar so you can plan ahead.
I have changed the format of the order form. I am making use of the order form I can generate online through the scrip company to make it easier to edit when new retailers are added. Again, if you find something missing or that you want, let me know. I am working on the local retailers. Remember if you own a business and would like to participate, let me know.
Brand new
: you can place your own order online! You can also pay from your checking or savings account with the order. Unfortunately, no you can’t use your credit card. I don’t know if they will add that feature at any time in the future. If you order online, you don’t need to give me a copy of the form. You can browse the retailers for all your favorite places to shop or dine. I will still be looking into local companies to add. You must still make payment – online or to me – before your scrip is delivered. The scrip will still be delivered to me for distribution. Here are the steps.1) Go to www.shopwithscrip.com
2) Select Family sign up
3) Fill in the information asked for – please note that a student name is not optional. If you don’t fill in the student name, I won’t know who to credit and it will go to the band! If you don’t have a student to give credit to (teacher, etc.) just put in band so I know. Be sure your phone and email are also included.
4) You will be asked for a registration code. It is important you include this or the band won’t be your organization! Those of you have enrolled before with other organizations - login to your account and add Centerville Jazz. The registration code is:
[please contact Denise for the registration code].5) If you want to pay online too, you’ll need to register for PrestoPay.
That’s it! You are now ready to order. Select the Shop tab at the top. You can browse all the different offerings, use the quick selection option and type in the name, create a favorites list while ordering to speed up ordering in the future!
You can still share with your co-workers too. Use the paper form and either include it with yours or give me the paper order.
Another new feature:
Some of the cards are reloadable. You can check online for the available reloadable cards. I can not reload the cards for you – it can only be done online. Look for the separate instructions on the Jazz website.Our next delivery deadline (whether manual or online) will be Monday, January 11 at 9:00pm.

The first scrip order has been placed! 15 people placed an order with the total being $6,435. Of that CJB earned $457: $183 went to student accounts and $274 went to the band. Remember you don’t have to spend money you wouldn’t spend anyway! Some people are sharing the forms with co-workers; how about friends and family. You don’t have to go door-knocking! Join in on the next order! The next order will be due to Denise Dickson on December 14. You can mail the order to me at 262 Summerford Pl., Dayton, 45458, drop it off at my house, or arrange to meet me.
There is now a Scrip section on the CJB website! These newsletters can be found there with a link to the order form. This is always the most up-to-date form. There are also forms on the bulletin board outside the band room (they are not always the most up to date).

Calling all Business Owners! Join our scrip program! You can use existing gift certificates or create some for scrip. You sell them to the band at a discounted rate that you decide (see the order form to get an idea of what other businesses charge). Other schools I have been at have had scrip for things such as a local scrap booking store, dry cleaners, car wash, car detailer. Contact Denise Dickson for more information or to work the details out. I can be reached at 750-9663, email dnsdcksn5@gmail.com.
Remember that the first scrip order is due to Denise Dickson on November 30! This is a date change because of the Thanksgiving weekend. You can mail the order to me at 262 Summerford Pl., Dayton, 45458, drop it off at my house, or catch me at school. I will be dropping off and picking up my child for drumline rehearsal so if you want to coordinate to give me the order that way, call me at 750-9663 or send me an email dnsdcksn5@gmail.com. If you email, bear in mind that I don’t always get to my email until the evening so an email the night before would be best.
